Educational and fun field trips for all school and college levels

Since the opening of Bhavan’s Nature and Adventure Centre (BNAC), more than 60.000 students have participated in our local school visit (LSV) programmes taking place at the centre.

The aim of these programmes is to provide the young participants (age groups from primary, secondary to college level) with valuable learning on environmental issues – such as the protection of biodiversity, sustainability, renewable energies and animal welfare – outside the classroom. Because learning is always easier when made fun, education sessions are mixed with a large range of games and exciting adventure and sports activities.

Taking place in a healthy, green environment in the heart of Mumbai, this visit is a unique experience for both students and teachers, and it will allow you take a deep breath of clean air! We are proud of the amazing biodiversity existing on our premises, with more than 200 plant species providing refuge for more than 55 bird and 65 butterfly species. You can discover all of these for yourself when on our Nature Trail!

Highlights and Activities

The BNAC Animal Care & Rescue Centre shelters injured and abandoned animals. Guided live interaction with the animals helps to reduce reservations and fears of the animals, and encourage care and compassion among people of all age groups. The participants are invited to learn more about evolution, biodiversity and means of protection. Pets help children develop self-esteem, positive relationships, intimacy and higher levels of moral reasoning. Pets foster responsibility and healthy relationships.
The Nature Trail is a trail within BNAC, wherein participants observe the varieties of plants, birds, flowers, butterflies, etc. present on site. During the 45-minute walk, visitors are introduced to wild and medicinal plants, orchids, creepers, shrubs, vegetable and fruit plants, and they are explained about plant-animal inter-relationships. The trail also includes bird watching, introduction to aquatic animals, and interaction on various nature-related facts.

The Tribal Trail takes the children on a journey around the globe to discover foreign cultures that all share a strong connection to the nature. One interesting question that arises is: What can our “developed society” that is characterized by over-consumption and wastage learn from them to reduce our own biological footprint? The trail exhibits mannequins that are all – believe it or not – made of thrown away trash.

Our six station obstacle course with fear-breakers offers challenges to overcome and boost self-confidence by gaining a sense of achievement into the individuals who cross them with determination and belief in self. The jungle gym, monkey bars, a climbing frame and a commando net with a vertical spider net is erected for young children to climb, hang and experience fun, while removing fear of falling down.

Games are used as a method of learning to discover our strengths and values. Self confidence, leadership qualities for success & achievement, team spirit, synchronization, concentration are among the topics. Experiential learning brings remarkable results.

The right mix of fun and education activities will make this visit a memorable experience for the children. We are happy to customize a programme according to your preferences and interests. The complete list of activities available for your school’s visit can be found in the brochure at the bottom of the page.
